The old footpath running from Bankside onto Preston Road across the landscaped area was closed in 2019 as it was unsafe due to the condition of the steps. The footpath belonged to Lancashire County Council who did not have funding to restore it. so the Parish Council decided to take action and install a new footpath that ran over the Parish Council's land at Bankside. Community Infrastructure Levy Funding was used to finance the work, which cost £3,350.
