Primrose Planting at Back Lane Woods
Last year Clayton-Le-Woods Parish Council agreed to purchase native primroses to improve the biodiversity of Back Lane Woods.
The primroses were sourced from an organically run nursery in the Lake District as tiny plugs. Eco Councillors from Manor Road Primary school carefully tended to these over the winter period. With Spring approaching, on the 8th March, one of our dedicated Clayton-le-Woods Parish Council volunteers joined forces with teachers and the great Eco Councillors from Manor Road Primary School and planted the little primroses. The children worked together as as a team and had a great time. There was lots of digging holes, rescuing wriggly worms and admiring their handy work.
The primroses are very small at the moment but next year they will hopefully have spread and provide a lovely display alongside the plants already growing in the embankment.
Thank you to the wonderful Eco Councillors from Manor Road Primary School!
